This site is a simple tool linking uses to the databases of NCCA accredited bodies that certify personal coaches. Click the menu button in the top-left to immediately link with the appropriate validation portal associated with the coach being verified. Many have similar names using similar terms leading to similar acronyms such as NASM, NCSF, NFPT, so be sure to doublecheck the acronym.
For Clients:
Maximize results and maintain safety by verifying a coach’s credentials and the legitimacy of their business. In addition to providing verifiable credentials, a legitimate coach will be able to provide live, unexpired certificates of proof for their liability insurance as well as their CPR/AED certification. There is no shortage of legitimate coaches. If your coach is unable to provide these things, you should look elsewhere. You can further protect yourself by opting for businesses vetted by BBB accreditation and in good standing within your Secretary of State or any other local governing body. Check out this article for more information and this listing as an example of the transparency you should be looking for.
For Coaches:
List yourself in the only directory that validates and prunes coaches with expired or voided credentials or use the convenience provided to expose fraud in the industry. If you’re looking to becoming a coach, we suggest you use this tool to find a certifying body that provides the fastest and simplest methods of validation as prolonging this step may cost you a potential client.
For Certifying Bodies:
This tool directly links to your publicly accessible validation portal. If you do not have any sort of validation portal, you are not on this list. If you do not want to be on this list, you have the option of deleting your validation portal or going bankrupt. At VERIFY.COACH, the client and legitimate coaches are our top priority. ISSA and NCCPT prefer to operate with less transparency and require the extra step of contacting support directly to validate credentials. We do not understand this sense of entitlement nor their disdain for potential clients, but we encourage potential clients to take extra care when hiring trainers certified by these bodies and validate their credentials to avoid fake coaches that are using this loophole to perpetrate their fraud. ISSA and NCCPT are high quality NCCA-accredited agencies, but none of that matters if a fraudulent coach can easily claim to be certified by them. Additionally, IFPA seems to have no published validation procedure at all despite being NCCA accredited, thus we recommend avoiding IFPA coaches entirely until this is remedied. This tool is meant to streamline the process of validating credentials to ultimately protect potential clients. Their time, safety, and investment is valuable and deserves respect.
ISSA, NCCPT, IFPA: if you remedy your lack of transparency, use the contact form and we will promptly update this site to reflect those changes.
